Seattle-based startup Kaito has raised $5.3 million in a funding round led by Dragonfly for its AI-powered search engine focused on aggregating crypto-related information from sources scattered across the internet. Founded in 2022 by former Citadel equities trader Yu Hu, Kaito aims to solve the issue of information overload and fragmentation in the decentralized crypto industry. Similar to Google, the search engine can aggregate links to sources on specific topics, such as the Solana blockchain. Kaito is currently available to the public for free, with an institutional investor-focused version available via subscription fee. The startup plans to use the funds to expand its team and accelerate product development, including integrating OpenAI’s GPT-3 technology to introduce a chatbot version of its search capabilities. Other participants in the funding round included Sequoia Capital, Jane Street, and Mirana Ventures.
